BSP sells commemorative banknotes, coins to honor Battle of Mactan's 500th anniv

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is selling commemorative coins to mark the 500 years of the victory of Lapulapu in Mactan.

“Nais po nating iparating sa ating mga kababayan na maaari nang bumili ng Lapu-Lapu commemorative banknotes at medals simula ngayong araw na ito,” BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said in his remarks during the Ulat ng BSP sa Bayan on Friday.

The BSP is selling the Lapulapu 5000-piso commemorative banknote for P5,500 and the commemorative coin at P3,500.

The issuance of commemorative coins and banknotes is “in celebration of the 500th anniversary of Lapulapu’s victory and the special part the Philippines played in the world’s circumnavigation.”

The sale of both the Lapulapu banknote and the medal is open to the general public.

“Due to the limited stocks, we cannot guarantee that all orders will be serviced. We will also consider only one order submission per person,” the BSP said.
