PHL, New Zealand renew cooperation on geothermal energy dev't

The governments of the Philippines and New Zealand renewed on Tuesday a cooperation on geothermal energy development.
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi and New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines David Strachan signed the memorandum of understanding at the New World Hotel in Makati City.

"It's a renewal of cooperation between the two countries for geothermal and renewable energy technology development," Cusi told reporters on the sidelines of the signing ceremony.
"The MOU started in October 2013 and expired in October this year. So we just extended it for another three years," the Energy chief said.
The MOU is a platform for New Zealand's geothermal industry to engage the Philippines in accelerating and promoting geothermal development through exchange of experiences, information, and technical assistance.
"The New Zealand government also provide some assistance to geothermal energy associations in the Philippines," Cusi said. — VDS, GMA News
