BCDA chief Vince Dizon named Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects

Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president Vince Dizon has been appointed Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects, a Malacañang official said Friday.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said  President Rodrigo Duterte tapped Dizon for the advisory position, which is on top of his job as BCDA chief.

Dizon, a former consultant to then-Senator and now Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, was also recently added as member of the Cabinet infrastructure cluster.

Signed in July, Duterte’s Executive Order 86 said the BCDA’s mandate in the conversion of the Clark and Subic military reservations, its vital public infrastructure projects and its role in the “Build, Buid, Build” program, warranted its inclusion as member of the infrastructure cluster.

In May, the BCDA reported that it remitted P15.455 billion to the government in just three years under the Duterte administration.

This surpassed the P14.464 billion remitted by the agency during the six-year term of Aquino administration.

Since its creation in 1992, the BCDA has remitted a total of P62.229 billion to the national treasury. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
