P413.33B worth of projects approved by NEDA


The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) on Tuesday said it has approved a public-private partnership (PPP) project, six new projects, and the financing extension of another project, with an estimated valuation totaling at least P413.33 billion.

The projects approved on September 27 include the following:

Additional financing for the Infrastructure Preparation and Innovation Facility

The P11.46-billion additional financing will be funded through a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to further expand and improve the quality of priority infrastructure project proposals.

Aqueduct No. 7 (AQ-7)

The P7.42-billion project involves the detailed engineering design and construction of a steel aqueduct to provide the operational flexibility of raw water transmission from Ipo Dam to the La Mesa Dam.

The project, under the Expanded Angat Water Transmission Project of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, has a provision on implementation extension until July 2023.

Development Objective Assistance Agreement

The Development Objective Assistance Agreement: Improved Health for Underserved Filipinos is a joint project of the Department of Health (DOH) and the US Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAid).

It focuses on priority health concerns of Filipinos such as tuberculosis, family planning, maternal and child health, and improving government mechanisms that bear on the implementation of the Universal Health Care Act.

World Bank loan validity extension for Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP)

The PRDP loan validity was extended for two years to May 31, 2023 from the original May 31, 2021.

This includes with a one-year extension for each of the five existing bilateral agreements with the United States covering health; basic education; Mindanao peace and development; environment, water, and climate change; and economic growth and democracy and governance

Local Governance Reform Sector Development

The P1.56-billion project is expected to strengthen the policy and administrative environment for enhancing local source revenues from real property tax by instituting reforms in real property valuation and assessment.

This will be done through the Department of Finance - Bureau of Local Government Finance.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) build-operate-transfer

The P350-billion project aims to upgrade, rehabilitate, and expand NAIA by improving and expanding the terminals and developing an additional runway, taxiways, and passenger terminals.

The unsolicited proposal was submitted by NAIA Consortium of Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc., AC Infrastructure Holdings Corporation, Alliance Global Group Inc., Asia’s Emerging Dragon Corporation, Filinvest Development Corporation, JG Summit Holdings Inc., and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.

Pasacao-Balatan Coastal Tourism Highway

The P14.97-billion project involves the construction of a 40.69-kilometer, four-lane coastal tourism highway along the west coast of Camarines Sur.

To be funded under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) budget, the highway will serve as direct link between the municipalities of Pasacao and Balatan.

Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling

The P27.92-billion financing will be funded through a World Bank loan to hasten the subdivision of Collective Land Ownership award and generation of individual titles done by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Based on the data available, the cumulative valuation of all the projects is at least P413.33 billion. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
