Gasoline, diesel prices up, kerosene down Tuesday

After five consecutive weeks of rollbacks, oil firms are set to implement a hike in pump prices of petroleum products this week.

In separate advisories, Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex), Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., and SEAOIL Philippines Inc. said they will increase prices per liter of gasoline by P0.55 and diesel by P0.15, while reducing those of kerosene by P0.20.

Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc., PTT Philippines Corp., and TOTAL Philippines Corp. will implement the same changes, excluding kerosene which they do not carry.

The changes will take effect 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, for Caltex, 8:01 a.m. for Cleanfuel, and 6 a.m. the same day for the rest of the firms.

According to Department of Energy (DOE) Oil Industry and Management Bureau director Rino Abad, the latest adjustments came after adjustments in global oil prices.

"Kung susumahin, ngayon lang uli nagkaroon ng increase for a specific reason. Medyo sumaya 'yung presyuhan sa international market," he said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV on Monday.

According to the latest data available from the DOE) year-to-date adjustments now stand at a net decrease of P15.07 for gasoline, P14.09 for diesel, and P18.95 for kerosene. --KBK, GMA News
