BSP’s Diokno discharged from hospital after minor head accident

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno has been discharged from the hospital following a medical procedure over the weekend to address a blood clot caused by a minor head accident.

The central bank said Diokno was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, January 20, three days after the medical procedure on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Specific details on the procedure were not immediately available.

"The Governor is now recuperating at home and may preside over the Monetary Board meeting as early as next week," the BSP said.

While on medical leave, Diokno appointed BSP Deputy Governor Francisco Dakila as officer-in-charge.

Diokno was appointed as BSP Governor in March 2019, to serve the unexpired term of last BSP Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr. who was supposed to end his tenure in July 2023, but passed away in February 2019 after his battle with cancer. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/RSJ, GMA News
