The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Tuesday said it exceeded its collection target in February despite the lingering effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the overall trading environment.
In a statement, the BOC said it collected P46.145 billion last month, posting a surplus of P3.988 billion or 9.5% against its P42.157-billion goal for February.
Citing preliminary report from the its Financial Service, the BOC said 10 of the 17 Collection Districts surpassed its collection target last month, namely:
- Port of Legaspi
- Port of Tacloban
- Port of Cagayan de Oro
- Port of Subic
- Port of Batangas
- Port of Iloilo
- Port of Clark
- Port of Davao
- Port of Manila
- Manila International Container Port
Last January, the Customs also surpassed its monthly revenue collection target by 7.4% or P3.277 billion.
“Indeed, the bureau continues to prove the intensified collective efforts of all ports this year, not to mention, the improvement of volume of importation, as well as the government's effort in ensuring unhampered movement of goods while maintaining border security and trade facilitation,” the BOC said.—AOL, GMA News
