BOC exceeds May collection goal by 6.6%

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Wednesday it has surpassed its collection target in May by 6.6%.

In a statement, the BOC said the positive revenue collection performance last month is attributed to the improved valuation and volume of importations, and the intensified collective efforts of all the ports to prevent revenue leakages and collect all lawful revenues.

“This continues to highlight the Bureau's consistent and positive monthly collection for the fifth month this year since January,” it said.

Citing preliminary report from its Financial Service, the Customs said its collection of P49.334 billion in May is higher by P3.058 billion compared to its target of P46.276 billion for the month.

The May collection figures include additional revenues from the Tax Expenditure Fund (TEF) collection of P50.16 million and Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG) collection of P86.26 million, the BOC said.

“Based on the report, 12 of the seventeen collection districts exceeded their target for the month, namely the Port of San Fernando, Port of Manila, MICP, Port of Batangas, Port of Legaspi, Port of Iloilo, Port of Tacloban, Port of Surigao, Port of Cagayan de Oro, Port of Davao, Port of Subic, and Port of Clark,” the bureau said.

Year-to-date, the BOC collected P249.793 billion since January, reflecting the 40.50% of the 2021 collection goal of P616.749 billion.—LDF, GMA News
