NCR COVID growth rate at -7%, steady dip in cases seen –OCTA fellow
By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA NewsOCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said Thursday that the COVID-19 growth rate in the National Capital Region is now at negative 7%, adding that a continuous decline in new cases in the region is expected.
In a tweet, David noted that from November 11 to 17, Metro Manila had an average of 379 daily new cases, which is lower compared to the 407 recorded from November 4 to 10, resulting in a growth rate of negative 7%.
Likewise, he said the reproductive number in the region
was 0.5 as of November 14 while the testing positivity rate from November 10 to 16 was 3%, adding that the positivity rate is projected to improve to 2% this week.ADVERTISEMENT
"With such a low positivity rate, we project the NCR will continue to have a decline in new cases, with a target 7-day average of 200 new cases by end of November," David said.
"However, we must continue to adhere to minimum public health standards," he added.
David earlier said the COVID-19 situation in NCR is already "close to plateauing" as no significant threat has been monitored.
Further, David noted that COVID-19 cases the entire Philippines is on a downward trend.
On Wednesday, the Department of Health recorded 1,190 new COVID-19 cases and 2,759 new recoveries, bringing down the active infections in the country to 23,846. —LBG, GMA News
