BSP verifying reports of fake P1,000 bills, advises public to remain vigilant

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)  on Wednesday said it is verifying reports circulating in messaging apps and social media platforms on the alleged counterfeit P1,000 banknotes bearing the same serial number and all ending in -2507.

With this, the central bank advised the public to remain vigilant when receiving Philippine banknotes by carefully checking the security features to ensure their authenticity.

“All persons responsible for the manufacture and proliferation of these counterfeit banknotes to the public will be investigated, prosecuted, and dealt with accordingly by law. As such, re-posting or further sharing of this photo or corresponding message on social media with malicious intent is highly discouraged,” the BSP said.

The central bank, likewise, requested the support of the public in reporting persons involved in the manufacture and/or distribution of counterfeit Philippine currency.
