Tourism sector wants uniform COVID-19 curbs across country

As the country opens up for foreign travelers, the tourism sector is calling for uniform COVID-19 restrictions across all local government units, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said Thursday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Puyat said the tourism sector made the suggestion to provide ease of travel for tourists.

“Kung iikot man around the Philippines, sana yung mga restriction sa mga LGU, iisa na lang. Hindi na kumplikado. Yun lang naman ang gusto nila e, ease of travel,” she said.

(If for round trip around the Philippines, the restrictions should be uniform in all local government units. It should not be complicated. That’s what they all want, ease of travel.)

COVID-19 restrictions and protocols in an area depend on its Alert Level as well as on the discretion of the concerned local government unit.

Starting this Tuesday, the Philippines allowed the entry of  foreign travelers for business and tourism purposes. —LBG, GMA News
