DA: Sugar to be sold at P70/kg at SRA, Kadiwa rolling stores, Kadiwa on Wheels

The Department of Agriculture (DA) said it would make available to consumers sugar at P70 per kilo at certain places.

These include the Sugar Regulatory Administration offices in Quezon City and Bacolod City.

The Kadiwa rolling stores and Kadiwa on Wheels will also sell sugar at P70 per kilo, the DA said.

It clarified however that the said sugar will be sold to direct consumers and not to resellers.

The DA said the selling of sugar in these places is only temporary until sugar mills in the country reach full production.

The price of sugar has reached as high as P134/kg in some supermarkets and up to P110/kg in wet markets last week.

Industry sources however expect the suggested retail price of sugar to hit P85 per kilo as imports under Sugar Order No. 2 start to arrive. —KG, GMA News
