CAVITEX C5 Link Flyover extension to open on July 16, 2022

Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) unit Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), the operator of Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), along with its joint-venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) is planning to open to the motoring public the CAVITEX C5 Link Flyover Extension in the coming week.

The said flyover extension or the Segment 3A2 of the C5 Link Expressway connects Merville Village to E. Rodriguez Avenue both in Parañaque City.

At a press briefing on Thursday, MPTC chief financial officer Chris Lizo said the C5 Link Flyover Extension will be opened on July 16.

In a separate news release, CIC said the flyover extension will further extend CAVITEX C5 Link’s 2.2-kilometer operational segment that spans from Merville to Taguig with an additional 1.6 kilometers, providing motorists more convenient access to and from Taguig, Pasay, and Parañaque, helping decongest the local roads.

Once opened, the Merville Entry/Exit ramps will be relocated to the new segment, in front of Shell C5 Southlink, the company said.

Simultaneously, a service tunnel road will also be opened to the public to manage the traffic of motorists coming from West Service Road going to Merville, Pasay, and Parañaque, it added.

Lizo said there will be an adjustment on the toll rates once the extended C5 Link flyover is opened.

He said that currently motorists traversing the operational segment pay P22 for the 2.2-kilometer stretch.

“When we open 3A2, the stretch will run [3.8] kilometers, it will be from P22 to P32,” Lizo said.

Meanwhile, CIC said it is on their last leg of works for the segment, such as installing traffic signages to help guide motorists on the new traffic flow in the area upon opening. In the pipeline, traffic signalization in the area will be installed for better traffic management.

Aside from the CAVITEX and CAVITEX C5 Link, MPTC’s tollways portfolio includes the concessions for the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu. — RSJ, GMA News
