LTO: Vehicle registration renewal may now be done online

Good news awaits car owners as the renewal of their motor vehicle registration may now be done online, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, LTO chief Jose Arturo Tugade announced that motorists may now use the agency’s Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) to skip long lines and comply with the registration renewal in less than ten minutes.

If a person's vehicle and registration details are already in the LTMS, then they will be able to use the online portal to renew their registration. Those who have yet to create an account at the online portal, however, will have to visit any LTO district office and seek assistance.

Further, the LTO chief reminded owners to secure a certificate of coverage and ensure that their vehicles have been subjected to an inspection by a Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (PMVIC) before transacting at the online portal.

“Both the validated insurance and the motor vehicle inspection report (MVIR) will be electronically sent to the LTMS,” said Tugade.

“If your plate number ends with 3, you have the whole month to get your choice of insurance coverage, have your vehicle inspected in any PMVIC near you, and access the LTMS portal for the online renewal. There’s no need for vehicle owners to spend a whole day renewing the registration of their vehicles,” he added. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA Integrated News
