Arroyo introduces RP climate change delegation to Pinoys in Denmark


Speaking before about 300 members of the Filipino community in Denmark at the Hilton Hotel in Copenhagen on Wednesday, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo introduced the Philippine delegation which included top government officials who, according to her, each have his or her own roles in the government’s climate change mitigation efforts. Along with the First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike" Arroyo, the delegation’s members include the Deputy House Speaker, Occidental Mindoro Rep. Amelita “Girlie" Villarosa; Negros Occidental Rep. Jose Ignacio “Iggy" Arroyo Jr., who chairs the House committee on natural resources; Energy Secretary Angelo “Angie" Reyes; and Press Secretary Cerge Remonde whose wife Marit is from Denmark. Reylina “Neneng" Nicolas, the vice chair of the House committee on appropriations; former environment secretary Heherson “Sonny" Alvarez, who is now the vice chairman of the Climate Change Committee and was described by Arroyo as the delegation's “workhorse"; Trade Secretary Peter Favila, tasked with transacting with Denmark investors; and former Cabinet secretary Ricardo “Ric" Saludo, who now heads the Reconstruction Commission.
