Over 113,000 Filipinos aged 20 to 59 years — considered productive age by the government — have been infected with COVID-19, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said Friday.

“Ito pong 20 to 59 years old, ito po ang productive age group, sila kasi iyong lumalabas ng bahay, nagtatrabaho, pagbalik nila sa pamilya, na-iinfect ang ibang maysakit at mga bata,” Vergeire said at a press conference.

Vergeire said the high incidence of COVID-19 cases among those of productive age is also caused by imported cases, or those overseas Filipino workers and locally stranded individuals who have been infected  with COVID-19.

The 113,914 COVID-19 cases among those aged 20 to 59 is broken down to:

  • 37,188 among those aged 20 to 29
  • 34,700 among those aged 30 to 39
  • 23,939 among those aged 40 to 49 and
