Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray on Wednesday said Southern Luzon Command chief Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. has apologized to her following the military official's warning on her giving support to Gabriela Women's Party.

Parlade earlier warned actress Liza Soberano for supporting the group, which the military claims as a front organization of communists. In his official statement, the Solcom chief also issued the warning to Gray.

Catriona said Parlade wrote a formal letter of apology.

"Just last night po General Parlade reached out personally to my team and also to [me] to personally apologize for dragging my name into this issue. I appreciate that he really reached out because it gave me clarification on my end also," Gray told ANC, noting that she and her family were concerned about the "warning."

"I know the groups that I work with. With all due respect to General Parlade and also to Gabriela, I have not done any project or activities with them," she added.

Gray also said it is good to listen to advice of some people but she noted that there is a proper way to give warnings. She said it is necessary to do some fact-checking prior to issuing public statements.

"Hopefully, I will learn from this lesson. I think it's a big learning for all of us," Gray said.

"I really wish people would take care no matter if you're a government official, a public servant, in the entertainment industry or whatever work you might find yourself. It is very important in this age of information to really be careful of the information you take as truth and also to really research and fact-check before making public statements," she adde.  —LBG, GMA News
