Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla on Monday asked the national government for more supply of COVID-19 vaccine as the province is facing “very critical” conditions amid the pandemic.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Remulla said the supply of vaccine in the province is very low.

“We're really trying to procure and we're really asking the help of the Department of Health, ni Secretary (Carlito) Galvez na dagdagan ang Cavite ng allocation ng vaccine,” he said.

A total of 407,864 or 16.7% of the 2,441,502 eligible recipients are fully vaccinated in the province, according to  Remulla.

He added that the province has been vaccinating for 4% of its target recipients every month.

“We have reiterated our desire to purchase 1.5 million doses [of Novavax] and another 1 million early next year para makumpleto natin ang herd immunity dito sa Cavite (to achieve herd immunity in the province),” he added.

Remulla said Cavite now has 6,263 active cases with 347 new infections reported on Sunday. — RSJ, GMA News
