Two people hurt as diesel tanker explodes at QC gas station


Friday the 13th proved unlucky for two men who were injured after a tanker truck unloading diesel exploded at a gas station in Quezon City before noon Friday. The incident occurred at Araneta Avenue in Quezon City at 11:40 a.m., according to a report by radio dzBB's Rowena Salvacion. The injured were initially identified as Jerome Nava and Eddie Magada. Magada sustained third-degree burns and was rushed to a hospital, while Nava sustained relatively light injuries, the report said. Police cordoned off the gas station following the incident, even as they investigate what caused the fire. An initial investigation showed the truck (RCB-885) was unloading diesel at the station when it caught fire and exploded. The explosion damaged the cashier's station. — LBG, GMA News
