PAGASA issues new rainfall advisory for NCR; MMDA offers free rides

Just as the floods from heavy rain in Metro Manila started to subside Monday night, state weather forecasters issued a yellow rainfall advisory warning of more rain and possible floods.

PAGASA issued the yellow rainfall advisory at 8:20 p.m., warning of moderate to heavy rain over Camanava, Manila, Pasig, Pasay, Taguig, Makati, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and Quezon City, Mandaluyong and Pateros.

It warned of flooding in low-lying areas, and advised residents to monitor weather conditions.

MMDA Libreng Sakay

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority started offering "Libreng Sakay" rides at España and Cubao northbound to help stranded commuters.

As of 8 p.m., the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority indicated floods in many areas had started to subside, including:

- EDSA Santolan, EDSA Camp Aguinaldo, EDSA Main Avenue northbound.
- España between Maceda and Antipolo, passable as of 7:50 p.m. Earlier, the flood in the area was knee-deep.
- C5 Tiendesitas southbound, flood subsided as of 7:50 p.m. but still with traffic buildup in the area.

Earlier, the MMDA noted several areas were flooded, including:
- R. Papa and Rizal Avenue, gutter-deep floods as of 7:20 p.m.
- Mabolo in front of a panciteria, 1 to 2 inches deep as of 7:30 p.m. in Valenzuela City.

UST class suspensions

Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas suspended classes in AMV-College of Accountancy for Monday night.

The Varsitarian, UST's official school publication, also said evening classes in the College of Fine Arts and Design were suspended as well.

Also suspended were evening classes in the College of Architecture. — BM, GMA News
