LTFRB suspends two bus firms over deadly EDSA accident

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board suspended two bus firms following an accident that killed at least six people at a part of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Makati City early Thursday.

Elena Liner and MGP Trans were meted a 30-day preventive suspension while an investigation into the accident is ongoing, radio dzBB reported early Friday.

Covered by the 30-day preventive suspension were 36 buses, including 21 from Elena Liner and 15 from MGP.

Both bus firms were also required to surrender to the LTFRB the yellow license plates of the buses involved in Thursday's smashup.

The accident occurred at the EDSA-Magallanes area, where six people were killed and 29 were injured.

During the 30-day suspension, the two companies' bus drivers will have to undergo drug tests. —KG, GMA News
