Govt agents seize P250M worth of fake goods


Government teams on Thursday seized some P250 million worth of fake goods following raids on buildings in Manila's Quiapo and Binondo districts.
 
The Philippine National Police said the raiding teams served warrants of seizure and detention on target buildings in the areas.
 
Also taking part in the raids were representatives of the Intellectual Property Office, Bureau of Customs, and the National Bureau of Investigation.
 
Seized at the Fortune Palace Building at Juan Luna Street in Binondo were counterfeit clothing, NBA jerseys, and apparel worth more than P20 million.
 
Teams also seized from the Gui Building at Palma St. in Quiapo counterfeit Samsung cellular phones/tablets, Samsung printing machines, Apple iPods, Beats monster speakers, Hello Kitty mini speakers, Sony MP5 players, and several counterfeit branded wristwatches.
 
The fake items were brought to Bureau of Customs warehouse for safekeeping while charges are being readied against the owners of the fake products. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
