LAGLAG BALA?

6 more arrested at NAIA for allegedly carrying bullets

Six persons were recently arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for allegedly carrying ammunition in their baggage, a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday said.

The six are currently facing charges of illegal possession of ammunition.

Among those arrested is Jennifer Delos Reyes who was barred from boarding her flight after a bullet was found inside her pouch.

Delos Reyes insisted however that she did not bring any bullet.

Allegations of the "laglag bala" modus have recently surfaced, supposedly done by NAIA personnel who put bullets in the baggage of some passengers as these go through the X-ray machine.

Because bullets are not allowed to be carried in flights, NAIA personnel allegedly stop passengers from boarding their flights unless they cough up money.

Four NAIA X-ray scanners were suspended last week over alleged "laglag bala" extortion activities.

The Office for Transportation Security, however, denied the existence of the alleged modus.

The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group said some passengers really bring bullets as these are considered amulets. —KG, GMA News
