Kid Peña files COC for Makati City mayor

Acting Makati City Mayor Romulo "Kid" Peña on Monday morning filed his certificate of candidate for mayor.

 

Peña filed his COC after delivering a State of the City Address at the Makati City Coliseum.

The filing of COCs for the May 2016 elections started on Monday and will run until October 16, Friday.

Peña took over as the city's acting mayor after the Office of the Ombudsman ordered last June the six-month prevention of Mayor Junjun Binay and other city officials over the alleged irregularities in the construction of a 10-storey building in the Makati Science High School.

 

Last week, the Omdudsman issued a dismissal order against Binay, son of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

 

On Sunday, the younger Binay said he will file his COC for mayor despite the Ombudsman's dismissal order, which comes with the perpetual disqualification from holding public office. —ALG, GMA News
