GMA News anchor Howie Severino hit by jeep while biking

GMA News anchor and journalist Howie Severino was injured Monday morning after a public utility jeepney hit the rear end of his bicycle.

The incident happened on Aurora Boulevard near Broadway Centrum before 9 a.m. while Severino was biking to work.

In a post on Facebook, Severino claimed that the driver first said he was in the way, but was later apologetic about the accident.

On News to Go, his co-anchor Kara David shared that aside from the cut on his leg, Severino is fine and did not suffer any major injuries.

"Igalang naman po ninyo ang karapatan ng mga siklista, lalo na kung sila ay nasa bike lane," David admonished.

Earlier this month, two other cyclists were involved in accidents that resulted in their deaths.

Cyclist Lorelie Cruz Melevo was hit by a truck and killed on the spot in Marikina.

Days later, Bienvenido Brabante was involved in a similar fatal incident involving a bus in Pasig City. —Aya Tantiangco/KG, GMA News
