No classes in some areas in Manila on Friday, January 27, 2017


Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has suspended work and classes in several areas in Manila on Friday, January 27 ahead of the Chinese New Year.

Estrada declared suspensions for all levels in schools located in District III of the city, specifically the Binondo, Quiapo, and Sta. Cruz areas.

He also declared the suspension of work in all departments, offices, and bureaus in the city, "except those involved in the maintenance of peace and order, traffic enforcement, disaster and risk reduction management, health and sanitation."

The Chinese Lunar New Year falls on Saturday, January 28, which had earlier been declared a special non-working holiday. —JST, GMA News
