Fire hits Glorietta 2 in Makati

A fire broke out at a portion of the Glorietta mall in Makati City on Monday evening, forcing the evacuation of shoppers from the premises and road closures within its vicinity.

Super Radyo dzBB's Nimfa Ravelo quoted Southern Police District chief Sr. Supt. Tomas Apolinario saying the fire started from an under repair elevator at the third floor of Glorietta 2 of the Ayala Center around 6:10 p.m.

Apolinario said the fire has been declared as fire out at about 6:32 p.m. by Fire Chief Insp. Gregorio Elbambo of the Makati BFP. He added the cause of the fire is still under investigation while the cost of the damage has yet to be determined.

An official statement from Glorietta said the fire broke out at their roof deck.

No person was injured during the incident, the statement added. Normal mall operations at Glorietta will resume on Tuesday.
