Whatever happened to case of slain 19-year-old who couldn't run?

The recent killing by Caloocan City policemen of 17-year-old Kian delos Santos has brought back to mind the case of Raymart Siapo—the 19-year-old person with disability who was shot to death in March.

Siapo, whose body yielded two sachets of shabu, was accosted by several armed one night in late March.

He was told to run but he couldn't because he had club feet.

According to Maki Pulido's report on "24 Oras", Siapo's mother Luzviminda was disappointed when she followed up the case of her son with the Navotas police.

"Sabi ko, 'kamusta po ba 'yung kaso ni Mart, ano na po ba 'yung resulta?' Alam niyo, kinasasaman ng loob ko, tinanong ng pulis, 'Sino ako..?' Ipinaliwanag ko pa 'yung nangyari," the mother said.

"Sabi ko, sa dami na siguro ng pinatay ng mga 'to, hindi na na nila alam," she added.

GMA News tried to get an interview with the police investigators but were instead given the case folder of Siapo's death.

The folder contained no affidavits from witnesses who could testify to seeing 14 men spotted near Raymart's home in Barangay Bangculasi before he was kidnapped.

There were also no statement backing Luzviminda's claim that there was a worker sleeping near the crime scene when the teen was taunted to run before he was shot.

Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson dared Navotas City police to solve the case during a hearing into Delos Santos killing.

"How can 14 masked vigilantes, armed, take a 19-year-old man na deformed, 'di pa makatakbo, atsaka may mga eyewitnesses din?" Lacson asked the Philippine National Police during a senate inquiry. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
