Private car catches fire on Commonwealth Avenue

A private car on Monday morning caught fire on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, radio dzBB reported.

According to the report by Manny Vargas, the car caught fire on the eastbound lane near Ever Gotesco Mall in Barangay Matandang Balara.

The vehicle was identified as a Chrysler Wagon with plate number JND 88 and was driven by a driver named Baldivicio.

Baldivicio said some riders who saw smoke coming from the rear of his car were the first one who alerted him about the fire.

Moments after the driver pulled over to the side of the road, the wagon caught fire and produced a thick blanket of smoke.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) responded immediately and extinguished it, the report said.

The incident caused traffic buildup along the eastbound lane heading to Fairview.

While no one was injured in the incident, authorities continue to conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

Authorities were speculating that faulty wiring at the rear of the car caused the fire specifically near the fuel tank. —Akari Nakano/KG/KVD, GMA News
