Up to 140 MRT3 riders evacuated from ‘detached train’
As many as 140 passengers of the Metro Rail Transit 3 were evacuated from a "detached train" coach between the railway line’s Buendia and Ayala Avenue Stations on Thursday morning, according to a transportation official.
An update by Transportation Undersecretary for Rails Cesar Chavez said around 130 to 140 passengers were evacuated by security personnel from the two stations in eight to 10 minutes.
No one was injured during the interstation evacuation, Chavez said.
GMA News Online is seeking clarification from Chavez on how the “detaching” incident unfolded, but one of the passengers who had to walk on the tracks confirmed that a train coach was indeed detached from the rest of the train.
YouScoop contributor JP Tanyag earlier showed photos of MRT3 riders walking along the railway tracks towards Ayala Avenue Station.

Netizen Ivan Caballero Villegas posted a photo and video of the incident.
The MRT3 serviced only half of its stations for about half an hour on Thursday morning due to what was earlier described as train failure, between the two stations.
This, after a separate unloading incident at Quezon Avenue Station just a few minutes before the implementation of the provisional service. —KG, GMA News
