Irate female rider in viral video to face criminal raps

A woman is expected to face criminal complaints after she hit and berated a traffic enforcer who had apprehended her for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.

According to Steve Dailisan's report on "24 Oras", it was the second time that the traffic enforcer apprehended the woman and the motorcycle rider as authorities already issued ticket on them along Road 3 which is only few meters away from the place where the heated argument happened.

The video of the confrontation has gone viral, but the MMDA clarified that they did not upload the video over social media.

"This is not about public shaming. Sinasabi pinaglagyan ng ulam, complete disregard of the law tiniketan ka na dadaan ka pa sa harap ng mga enforcers natin para ipakita na hindi mo sinusunod ang batas," said Bong Nebrija, head of the MMDA Task Force Kapit Bisig.

Aside from imposing the P1,500 penalty for violating the No Crash Helmet Policy, the agency will file complaints such as slight physical injuries and crime against persons in authority and their agents against the woman.

The MMDA also expressed willingness to show the video in the body camera to prove that the traffic enforcer did not insult the woman.

"Wala pong nangyaring ganon, naka-body cam po ako... lahat naka-record, lahat ng pangyayari," traffic constable Mandy Cabana said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
