9 hurt after AUV crashes into Alabang restaurant

Nine people were hurt after an AUV crashed into a restaurant in a mall in Alabang on Sunday night, according to a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday.

The driver reportedly stepped on the gas pedal by mistake as the vehicle crashed into the restaurant in Festival Mall.

YouScooper Jobert Ortiz dela Victoria, who was at the restaurant eating when the crash happened at 8:35 p.m., was able to take a photo as police investigated the incident.

He said diners thought there was a car bomb, prompting everyone to leave immediately.

The injured were brought to the hospital and are now fine.

In an interview on Dobol B sa News TV on Wednesday, Police Chief Inspector Roland Estupin of Muntinlupa City Police said the driver and the victims were able to agree on a temporary settlement of the matter.

Those injured, including a nine-month-old baby, had bruises and abrasions.

Estupin added that the management of Gerry's Grill and Festival Mall are in talks with the driver of the white Innova for settlement of the damage. —KG, GMA News
