Complaint against Frank Magalona reduced to Unjust Vexation

A complaint of unjust vexation has been filed against actor Frank Magalona for allegedly groping a VIP host in an unspecified bar in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Southern Police District director Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr. said the police initially filed a complaint of acts of lasciviousness but the city prosecutor downgraded it to unjust vexation.

The prosecutor released Magalona for further investigation.

“Ang ibig sabihin ng released for further investigation ay hindi ganun kalakas ang evidence para madetain siya (Magalona) pero hindi pa dropped ang complaint. Magtutuloy- tuloy ang preliminary investigation,” Apolinario told GMA News Online over the phone.

He said it usually takes a week or two before the city prosecutor releases its decision on whether charges against Magalona will either be filed or dropped.

According to the bar staff, the actor placed his hand on her bottom and squeeze it. She said she clearly saw his hand and she reported the incident to management immediately.

"'Yong isang VIP host who is about to serve liquor, suddenly naramdaman niya may tumapik sa kaniyang behind, so siyempre she felt abused. Kita niya 'yon nga, 'yong suspect is a certain Frank Magalona," Apolinario told GMA News' "Balitanghali" on Tuesday.

The bouncer was alerted and Magalona was arrested.

Magalona's mother Pia, who is also his manager, has yet to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, Apolinario said that they will increase police visibility in the area to discourage the instances of assault.

"Alam mo naman, pagka nalalasing na 'yang mga 'yan, minsan di na ma-control," he said. "Pero maganda 'pag may nangyayaring ganiyan, nakakasuhan para it will be a lesson to others na magtino sila." — Aya Tantiangco/Amita Legaspi/LA, GMA News
