Grenades found in Arnold Padilla's house 'planted,' says lawyer Fortun

The grenades found by the police in Arnold Padilla's house in Makati City during a raid on Friday morning were "planted," according to Padilla's lawyer Raymond Fortun.

"Tungkol naman sa granada, nakakalungkot pong sabihin, pero ito po ay planted," Fortun said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.

Padilla gained notoriety earlier this month after video of him, his live-in partner and their bodyguards scolding and beating traffic enforcers went viral on the Internet.

On Friday, police raided his residence in Magallanes Village and found several allegedly unlicensed firearms and at least two grenades.

"This is just an opinion, but for now, yun lang po yung masasabi naming abogado na hindi po si Arnold Padilla ang may-ari ng mga granadang ito," Fortun said.

Fortun said Padilla has a license for the two guns found in his house by the police. The other guns, he said, are legally owned by his client's bodyguards.

"Meron pong mga firearms that were revoked at meron po kaming acknowledgement receipt na lahat po nitong mga baril na rehistrado kay Arnold Padilla ay sinurrender na sa pulis," he said. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
