Organizers scrap parade of Black Nazarene replicas; blessing to push through

Unlike last year, there will be no procession of Black Nazarene replicas this year, according to Jun Veneracion's report on Balitanghali on Monday.

The procession, which is considered as the prelude to the Traslacion, was supposed to be held at 1 p.m. on Monday.

Instead, priests will bless the over 100 replicas that were brought in front of Quiapo church from as far away as Pangasinan.

The only procession for the Feast of Black Nazarene will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

According to the Manila Police District, they are expecting some 300,000 to 500,000 Catholic devotees to attend the blessing of Black Nazarene replicas.

A liquor ban is already enforced in areas near Quiapo. —KBK, GMA News
