P2M worth of ecstasy pills seized at NAIA

Over 1,000 ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value of P2 million were seized at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), according to Luisito Santos' report on Dobol B sa News TV on Friday.

The illegal drugs, which were seized by Bureau of Customs personnel at the Central Mail Exchange Center in NAIA, reportedly came from the Netherlands through a certain G. Voorthuzen. They were declared as light boxes.

The shipment arrived in October last year but was only examined on Thursday after nobody claimed it for months.

A total of 1,269 tablets of ecstasy worth P2.157 million were found in the package.

The drugs will be turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency within the day. —KBK, GMA News
