Isko asks donors not to put his name on food trucks

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday asked donors who are supposedly providing the "Kusina ni Isko" food trucks not to put his face or name on them.

On Monday morning, a food truck bearing the names and faces of Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna was seen serving free lugaw  during a flag ceremony at the Bonifacio Shrine.

As seen in photos posted by GMA News' Jonathan Andal, the truck also bore a logo that said "Kusina ni Isko," as well as the seal of the City Government of Manila.

Moreno, who ordered the removal of the names of politicians from public and private schools and hospitals last week as part of his "walang epal" agenda, was called out on Twitter by netizens.

The mayor responded by saying netizens "had a point" and vowed that the "Kusina ni Isko" will no longer be there by the next flag ceremony.

"Next flag ceremony, wala na po iyan," Moreno said.

Moreno also suggested changing the name to “Kusina ng Maynila” or “Kusina para sa Batang Maynila.”

"Netizens have a point on this one. Nakisuyo na po ako sa nag-donate po ng food truck na huwag na lang ilagay ang mukha at pangalan ko. Siguro ilagay na lang po nila “Kusina ng Maynila” o kaya “Kusina para sa Batang Maynila,” the mayor said.

No gov't money used

In a press briefing, Moreno clarified that the truck was not funded by the government and was instead donated by a "private individual."

"Doon sa nag-sponsor, thank you very much. It's not government money, it's not [the] City of Manila's money. Private individual," he said in a video posted by Super Radyo dzBB's Isa Umali.

While he was grateful to the donors for their "good intentions," Moreno stressed that they should remove his name and face from the truck.

"Siguro inspired lang sa atin, wanted to extend help. But they may have good intentions, maganda naman, napapakinabangan naman," the mayor said.

"Pero may kaunting epal du'n eh," he added. —Margaret Claire Layug/KG/KBK, GMA News
