Isko Moreno strips traffic enforcer of uniform over extortion

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday sacked a traffic enforcer for alleged extortion that was caught on CCTV.

Moreno also literally stripped the enforcer of his uniform and ID over the incident.

According to the Manila Public Information Office, the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau enforcer was identified as Ricardo Galit.

He allegedly extorted money from a motorist who violated a traffic rule in Sta. Cruz, Manila. The act was caught on CCTV.

Aside from the vest, Moreno confiscated the ID of Galit.

The enforcer will no longer be part of the MPTB and formal charges will be filed against him, according to Moreno.

Earlier on Monday, the mayor talked to the MTPB enforcers and urged them to give information on the identity of their erring colleague.

"Bibigyan ko kayo ng isang araw ha. Kapag hindi ninyo itinuro sa akin 'yung nasa video, lahat kayo tatanggalin ko. Kapag hindi kayo nagsumbong ng kapwa ninyo nangongotong, damay damay tayong lahat dahil ang pananahimik ninyo'y pagpayag ninyo," Moreno said. —Dona Magsino/NB, GMA News
