The partial opening of the C5 South Link Expressway on Tuesday, July 23, is supposed to cut the crossing time between Taguig and Parañaque in just less than three minutes.

The entire C5 South Link project spans 7.7 kilometers and costs P11 billion, while the 2.2 km flyover costs P1.6 billion.

It aims to connect C5 Road to the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEx) through Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Cavite.

When completed, C5 South Link will seamlessly connect C5 and CAVITEx via Merville and Sucat. The project is targeted to be completed by last quarter of 2021.

It is expected to benefit at least 50,000 cars in key areas of Metro Manila such as Makati, Taguig, Las Piñas, Pasay, and Parañaque as well as motorists taking EDSA, Sales, and East and West Service Roads.

MPTC is a subsidiary of Pangilinan-led infrastructure conglomerate Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC). —VDS, GMA News
