Prison guard hurt after allegedly being stabbed by Bilibid inmate

A prison guard was hurt after allegedly being stabbed by an inmate at the maximum security compound of the New Bilbid Prison (NBP) on Thursday.

Duty Officer Edgardo Ferrer was stabbed by an inmate suffering from schizophrenia at 8:40 a.m., Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete said in a message to reporters.

An initial report from Muntinlupa police chief Police Colonel Gerardo Umayao said the victim was a correction inspector.

The suspect, meanwhile, was one Wilson Topic, Umayao said.
