Isetann mall to stop selling used cellphone

The management of Isetann mall on Tuesday expressed its "unwavering support" for the Manila City government, following Manila Mayor Isko Moreno's declaration of the possible shutdown of the establishment.

"We have written the City Government today that in keeping with the instructions of the Honorable City Mayor, the sale of second-hand phones will no longer be allowed here at the Isetann Cinerama effective immediately," the management said in an emailed statement.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB on Tuesday, Moreno said the mall face the possibility of being closed down because it lacked permit to conduct business.

"Hindi namin papayagan dahil kung hindi kayo magtitino at hindi kayo makikiayon sa pamamalakad ng pamahalaang lungsod, hindi rin magtitino ang ating pamayanan," he said.

Moreno on Monday announced the ban on selling second-hand mobile phones, following the series of phone thefts that resulted in injuries or even death in Manila.
