One-way scheme on SLEX service road confuses drivers; traffic congestion persists

The one-way traffic scheme implemented to decongest the South Luzon Expressway's East Service Road only worsened traffic as the confusion of drivers taking the expressway grew.

According to a report by Tina Panganiban-Perez on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the Alabang Toll Plaza in the northbound lane was temporarily moved two kilometers to make room for the Skyway extension project.

"We're going to limit the window for the entry of heavy vehicles during the day time and during the night time. Ganoon din sa gabi, we will only allow the entry of vehicles starting 9 o'clock in the evening up to 3 o'clock in the morning," Skyway O&M president Manny Bonoan said.

The new system confused drivers despite the signs along Sucat Interchange and the presence of traffic enforces to guide the public.

Some drivers, meanwhile, chose to ignore the signs, adding to the congestion. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
