Pasay mayor alarmed over reports of abductions, orders police to probe

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered the police to look into reports of abductions in the city that are circulating around social media, the city public information office shared on Monday.

In a statement, the Pasay City Public Information Office announced that the mayor directed Pasay Police chief Colonel Bernard Yang to investigate the alleged kidnapping incidents.

“I am ordering the police to investigate these alleged abductions. We want these resolved immediately to ease the anxiety and uncertainty of their relatives,” Calixto-Rubiano said in a statement.

“Let’s be careful and avoid risks by going to the police. The Philippine National Police is on top of the situation, and I am confident that they have the resources and manpower to solve these crimes,” she added.

Rumors are circulating that some teenagers have been abducted within the vicinity of Pasay Rotonda. The mayor reminded citizens to report these incidents to a police precinct first before posting it on social media.

Yang told GMA News Online that they are still working to verify these reports.

According to Yang, only two cases of missing persons have been reported to them. The Pasay City Police has started taking statements from the family of these missing persons.

“Ongoing verification po tayo and statement taking ng relatives of the victims. As of now, dalawa pa lang po nag-report sa amin regarding missing and others are still subject to verification,” Yang told GMA News Online in a text message. — BM, GMA News
