Police probing if P7.4M worth of shabu seized in Marikina connected to P2.5-B illegal drugs in Makati

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) acting director Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas on Tuesday said authorities are checking if the P7.4 million worth of illegal drugs seized in Marikina City is connected to the over P2.5 billion worth of shabu seized in Makati City in November.

"'Yung pinaglalagyan nito is tea bag, kaya 'yung suspetsa namin na baka part 'to doon sa nahuli sa Makati na 374 (kilograms)..." Sinas said during a press briefing at Kamuning Police Station 10.

"Pinakumpara namin sa Crime Lab kung pareho ng appearance kasi kung sabihin na pareho, ibig sabihin talagang umiikot sa atin, nadistribute na 'yung iba," he added.

Operatives of the Philippine National Police’s Regional Special Operations Unit on Monday night seized a total of 1.150 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P7.4 million during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Marikina City.

Two suspected drug personalities were arrested during the said operation.

Meanwhile, the buy-bust operation in Makati City last month resulted in the confiscation of some P2.522 billion worth of suspected shabu. A Chinese national, identified as Liu Chao, was nabbed in the operation.

In a follow-up operation in  Las Piñas City, the alleged cohorts of Liu Chao were arrested. Police were able to seize a total of 17 plastic packs containing suspected shabu worth P115.6 million. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
