Cops identify woman forcibly taken into minivan in Makati

The Makati City Police Station has identified the victim of the alleged abduction on Paseo De Roxas on Monday night.

The person who was forcibly taken into a waiting mini van was identified as Zhou Mei, said to be an employee of a Philippine offshore gaming operation.

The chief of the Makati City police on Tuesday identified the victim on the alleged abduction incident along Paseo De Roxas, Makati City on Monday night.

"May asawa siya, si Chen Tangbin..." Police Colonel Rogelio Simon told reporters.

Simon urged the husband of the victim to go to authorities and help in the investigation on the incident. He said police were still trying to locate Zhou's husband.

"Makipag-cooperate sa amin. Huwag siyang magpadala ng kaibigan lang niya dito na hindi nakakaalam ng detalye. Para appropriate din 'yung intervention natin kung sakali," Simon said.

Simon further said authorities could not determine yet if the incident was really a kidnapping case because there was still no demand for ransom.

"Hindi kasi wala naman nagdemand ng pera at di pa namin nakakausap itong asawa ng victim. Ang nakakausap pa lang namin ay 'yung kapatid ng asawa ng victim at 'yung kaibigan ng asawa. So walang relation eh," Simon said.

Earlier, Police Major Gideon Ines, chief of Makati Police Criminal Investigation Unit, said the victim's husband returned to their condominium unit on Tuesday morning where he supposedly told the security guard that the alleged abductors were asking for money.

Police traced the couple's address through the documents left from the scene of the crime, which included a deed of sale, passports, a driver's license, and IDs.

They are investigating if the abduction has something to do with the deed of sale, especially after they learned that the other name on it had a fake driver's license, which was discovered after the address on it turned out to be non-existent.

Authorities earlier said the suspects on the incident were believed to be Chinese nationals too. —NB, GMA News
