LTO fails to locate motorist, cancels hearing on EDSA counterflow incident

The Land Transportation Office on Tuesday canceled a scheduled hearing on an EDSA-Magallanes counterflow incident due to the LTO's inability to discover the involved motorist's present address.

In Cedric Castillo’s report on GMA News TV’s Balitanghali, LTO Field Enforcement Division Officer-in-Charge Bob Valera explained that the SUV driver was no longer residing in the registered address.

Another show-cause order would be sent to the same address. If the motorist still failed to respond, the LTO would waive the subject’s opportunity to issue an explanation.

The LTO also warned the subject that they may alert the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group against the erring motorist.

A fine of at least P2,000 and a three-month license suspension could be imposed on the motorist. Also, because the subject did not declare a new address, another penalty could be imposed. — Joviland Rita/DVM, GMA News
