Manila traffic to be rerouted for Dec. 30 Black Nazarene procession


The Manila Police District (MPD) on Sunday advised motorists that traffic in the city would be re-routed for the Black Nazarene thanksgiving procession on Monday, December 30.

In an advisory, the MPD identified the areas where the procession would pass through.

From Plaza Miranda, the procession would turn left to Quezon Boulevard, turn right to C.M. Recto Avenue, make another right to Loyola Street, then another right to Bilibid Viejo Street.

It would then turn left to Gil Puyat Street and left to Z.P. de Guzman Street, then right turn R. Hidalgo Street, left to Quezon Boulevard under Quezon Bridge through Palanca Street, right to Villalobos Street, then back to Plaza Miranda.

Road closures would start at 8:30 p.m. along the following lanes:

  • Southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard (Quiapo) from A. Mendoza to Plaza Miranda
  • España Boulevard/P. Campa Street/Lerma Street
  • Eastbound lane of C.M. Recto from Rizal Avenue to SH Loyola Street.

Motorists were thus advised to take these routes during the procession:

  • Vehicles coming from Quezon City using the southbound lane of España Avenue shall return right to P Campa Sreet then turn left to A. Mendoza Street, right to Fugoso Street, turn left to Rizal Avenue, then to destination.
  • All vehicles intending to use Quezon Boulevard coming from A. Mendoza Street shall turn right to Fugoso Street, and then turn left to Rizal Avenue to point of destination.
  • Motorists utilizing the eastbound lane of C.M. Recto coming from Divisoria shall turn left to Rizal Avenue to destination.

The actual closing and opening of the affected roads would depend on the traffic conditions on the day of the procession, the MPD added. — Joviland Rita/DVM, GMA News
