16 police trainees dropped from list of graduates for drinking liquor inside dorm —NCRPO

For drinking liquor inside their dormitory at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig, the graduation of some police trainees has been temporarily put on hold pending investigation, according to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Debold Sinas.

"While the investigation is on-going and pending for the convening of Academic Board and due process, these police trainees are temporarily held in abeyance and not included in the list of Graduates for February 10, 2020," Sinas said.

The misdemeanor came to light after photos and videos showing the "conduct unbecoming" of the trainees while inside the National Capital Region Training Center circulated on social media.

To give way to an administrative investigation, Philippine National Police chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa also ordered the relief of the regional training group involved.

Sinas said the fate of the concerned police trainees should be a warning to aspiring law enforcers. "The new breed of Metro cops should not only be physically fit, emotionally balanced, mentally sharp, morally upright but most of all, perpetually disciplined," he said.

A separate report by Manny Vargas in Dobol B sa News TV detailed that there were 16 trainees involved in the incident. The videos and photos that circulated online were allegedly uploaded by the trainees themselves.

The report further said that Gamboa confirmed that the trainees will no longer be given any police ranks due to their misconduct.
