Operations of LRT2’s Santolan to Anonas stations to partially resume by June — Berroya

Partial operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) in its Santolan to Anonas stations is expected to resume by June, after a fire that caused a months-long closure.

According to Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Reynaldo Berroya, repairs are underway for the two stations to resume operations, albeit only to a certain extent.

"By June, magkakaroon tayo ng mga pagbabago. Marerestore 'yung mga operation between Santolan and Cubao in a certain extent," he told reporters during a press conference in Pasay City.

Three stations of the LRT2 -- Santolan, Katipunan, and Anonas -- have been shut down since October, after two rectifiers got damaged by a fire incident.

According to Berroya, the delay in the resumption of operations is due to the timeframe of acquiring new electrifiers for the rail system.

"'Pag naka-order ng electrifier, aabot ng isang taon ang paggawa ng isa, eh tatlo 'yung papalitan. Nagkakahalaga ito ng P500 million more or less bawat isa," he explained. — RSJ, GMA News
