By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA News

The hostage-taker at the Greenhills shopping center has been arrested after freeing his hostages and addressing the media on Monday night.

At his press conference after he released the mall employees, Paray told the media of the alleged corruption at his agency.

Paray said he was ready to be shot in front of the media.

"Kahit ipatadtad mo ako ng baril ngayon... Gusto ko baril niya ubusin bala sa akin dito habang nakaharap sa media," Paray said.

The hostage-taker was even asking authorities what would be his fate after the incident.

Sensing that his guard was already down, one policeman lunged at Paray before others joined to subdue and arrest the hostage-taker.

Seized from him was his gun. Paray had agreed to leave his grenade before leaving the building and releasing his hostages.

The hostage situation at the Greenhills shopping center ended after Paray freed his hostages following hours of negotiations.

Early on Monday evening, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora talked to suspect Archie Paray and convinced him to come out without bringing his gun and hand grenade.

According to a report on "24 Oras", people inside the Virra Mall at the Greenhills Shopping Center were sent running for safety on Monday after Paray opened fire at the mall, injuring the security manager.

The security manager was seen being carried by two men onto a wheelchair after he was shot.

The mall was placed on lockdown immediately after the incident.

The suspect, a dismissed security guard in the same establishment, took 30 people hostage.

Zamora, meanwhile, vowed that the city government would look into the allegation of Paray that there was corruption in Paray's security firm.—NB/LDF, GMA News
